Joseph Hillström King wurde am 4. Juni 1972 in Hermon, Maine geboren und wuchs in Bangor, Maine auf (er ist besser bekannt unter dem Pseudonym Joe Hill) und ist ein US-amerikanischer Schriftsteller. Er hat Preise gewonnen, darunter Bram Stoker Awards, British Fantasy Awards und einen Eisner Award. Hill ist ein Empfänger des Ray Bradbury Fellowship. Außerdem erhielt er 2006 den William L. Crawford Award als bester neuer Fantasy-Autor, 1999 den A. E. Coppard Long Fiction Prize für „Better Than Home“ und den World Fantasy Award 2006 für die beste Novelle für „Voluntary Committal“. Seine Geschichten sind in einer Vielzahl von Zeitschriften erschienen, wie "Subterranean Magazine", "Postscripts" und "The High Plains Literary Review" sowie in vielen Anthologien, darunter "The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror" und "The Year's Best Fantasy". und Horror".
